Alejandro Esguerra convenes an international workshop on "Objects of Expertise II" exploring how expertise and politics can be studied through the lens of objects. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Global Governance Centre (Geneva), the Dept. of International Relations and Political Science (Geneva) and the Institute for World Society Studies (Bielefeld).

Am 03. und 04. März 2022 findet die Jahrestagung des DVPW Arbeitskreises Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik an der TU München statt, sie trägt den Titel "Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik im Spiegel von Krisen". Der Workshop zielt darauf, konzeptionelle und forschungspraktische Perspektiven zu erkunden, die die Verpflechtung von Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik herausarbeiten und ihre politischen Folgen aufzeigen. Die Workshop-Sprache ist deutsch, englischsprachige Beiträge sind willkommen. Weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie hier.

Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft fördert das Projekt "Weltsichten im
Eis: Konstruktionen der Arktis an den Schnittstellen von Wissenschaft
und Politik" (2022-2025), geleitet von Prof. Dr. Mathias Albert und
Prof. Dr. Holger Straßheim in Kooperation mit Dr. Daniela Portella
Sampaio.

Alejandro Esguerra presents a paper at the Society for the Advanced
Socio-Economics (SASE) Conference (2-5 July 2021). The session is
moderated by Jan Aart Scholte (Leiden University) and titled
"Polycentrism: How Governing Works Today". Alejandro talks about
"Governing through Actor-Networks: The Politics of Socio-Material
Knowledge Construction". The session reflects a book project on
Polycentric Governing that was hosted at the Centre for Global
Cooperation Research, Duisburg. The Book will be published with Oxford
University Press later this year.
What role for ethics in times of crisis?
In a recent blog post
written by Jessica Pykett, Sarah Ball, Robert Lepenies and Holger
Straßheim, the authors are discussing how ethnical considerations have
informed pandemic response policies in the UK. The blog is based on
insights from a scoping workshop with key stakeholders. It presents some
first results of an international research project on "Ethics and
Expertise in Times of Crisis" funded by the University of Bielefeld and
the University of Birmingham.
Politisches Verhalten verstehen - EU-Bericht in vier Sprachen erhältlich
Die Gemeinsame Forschungsstelle (JRC) der Europäischen Kommission hat soeben den Bericht "Unser Politisches Verhalten verstehen"
veröffentlicht. Der Bericht greift unter anderem Erkenntnisse zu
Fehlwahrnehmungen, Emotionen und kollektiver Intelligenz auf und zieht
daraus Schlussfolgerungen für eine evidenzorientierte Politikgestaltung.
Mittlerweile ist das Papier in vier Sprachen erhältlich. Holger
Straßheim hat 2019 als Mitglied einer Expert:innengruppe zu diesem
Bericht beigetragen.

Die Tagung wird in der Deutschen Vereinigung für Politikwissenschaft (DVPW) von der Sektion "Policy-Analyse und Verwaltungswissenschaft", dem Arbeitskreis "Polotik, Wissenschaft und Technik" und der Themengruppe "Energietransformation" unterstützt.
