Together with Prof. Henrike Knappe (Technische Universität Berlin) and
Prof. Tobias Berger (Freie Universität Berlin), Alejandro Esguerra
co-convenes a workshop on "Contested Futures in World Politics: Actors,
Institutions, Objects". The workshop is funded by the Cluster of
Excelllence Contestation of the Liberal Script. This is the programm.
“Translating the Anthropocene: Indigenous Activists and Human Rights in infrastructural Projects”
Alejandro Esguerra has just published a new article on "Translating the Anthropocene: Indigenous Activists and Human Rights in infrastructual Projects" in International Studies Review. In this article, he asks how infrastructures responsible for the Climate Crisis become sites of indigenous human rights activism. Activists create new norms mobilizing indigenous cosmologies. Theories of translation allow to explain this constitutive process of norm emergence.
The article is part of a Forum honoring the work of Thomas Risse.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Global Governance Centre (Geneva), the Dept. of International Relations and Political Science (Geneva) and the Institute for World Society Studies (Bielefeld).

Am 03. und 04. März 2022 findet die Jahrestagung des DVPW Arbeitskreises Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik an der TU München statt, sie trägt den Titel "Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik im Spiegel von Krisen". Der Workshop zielt darauf, konzeptionelle und forschungspraktische Perspektiven zu erkunden, die die Verpflechtung von Politik, Wissenschaft und Technik herausarbeiten und ihre politischen Folgen aufzeigen. Die Workshop-Sprache ist deutsch, englischsprachige Beiträge sind willkommen. Weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie hier.

Socio-Economics (SASE) Conference (2-5 July 2021). The session is
moderated by Jan Aart Scholte (Leiden University) and titled
"Polycentrism: How Governing Works Today". Alejandro talks about
"Governing through Actor-Networks: The Politics of Socio-Material
Knowledge Construction". The session reflects a book project on
Polycentric Governing that was hosted at the Centre for Global
Cooperation Research, Duisburg. The Book will be published with Oxford
University Press later this year.
