Die Veranstaltungist eine Themenreihe in der Johanneskirche mit der Lydia-Gemeinde Bielefeld und erfolgt in Kooperation mit Prof. Dr. Heidemarie Winkel.

Lecture: Obstetric violence - A perspectve from feminist philosphy

Obstetric violence – violence against women giving birth in medicalized settings – has been widely recognized as a phenomenon affecting women globally and systematically, and as one that is in urgent need to be tackled and solved. Obstetric violence is not mere medical violence but constitutes structural gender violence.

In her research, Sara Cohen Shabot has dealt with different aspects of the phenomenon from the perspective of feminist philosophy, mainly feminist phenomenology & epistemology. She will discuss some of her insights on the subject in the lecture.

Kick-Off Workshop der Forschungsgruppe "Global Contestations of Women's and Gender Rights"

Vom 16.-18. März 2020 findet am Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Forschung (ZiF) der Kick-Off Workshop der Forschungsgruppe "Global Contestations of Women's and Gender Rights" statt. Die Forschungsgruppe wird von PD Dr. Alexandra Scheele (Fakultät für Soziologie), Prof. Dr. Julia Roth (Fakultät für Linguistik und Literaturwissenschaften) und Prof. Dr. Heidemarie Winkel (Fakultät für Soziologie) geleitet. Ab Oktober 2020 werden 17 Wissenschaftler*innen aus Deutschland und Europa, sowie aus Asien, Nord- und Südamerika, dem Nahen Osten und dem Maghreb der Frage nachgehen, wie und warum Frauen- und Geschlechterrechte in verschiedenen lokalen Kontexten weltweit zu einem umstrittenen Feld geworden sind.

Der Kick-Off Workshop dient der Vorstellung der einzelnen Forschungsvorhaben der beteiligten Wissenschaftler*innen und der Vorbereitung von Kooperationen für gemeinsame Veranstaltungen und Veröffentlichungen während der einjährigen Präsenzzeit am ZiF.

50-Jahre Fakultät für Soziologie: Die Vielfalt der Gesellschaft: Kritisches Weißsein

Mit zwei Kurzvorträgen und einer anschließenden Diskussion zum Thema Kritisches Weißsein – rassistische Verflechtungen und Privilegien?! wird die Veranstaltungsreihe Die Vielfalt der Gesellschaft der Fakultät für Soziologie im Rahmen ihres 50-jährigen Jubiläums am 22. Mai fortgesesetzt.
