New Book by Detlef Sack on Chambers of Commerce in Europe

Chambers of commerce are omnipresent in domestic public policy and play a crucial role in business self-governance. However, they are rather neglected in both public and scientific debates and seem to be in decline. "Chambers of Commerce in Europe" fills this gap in research on organised business and state-market coordination in Europe.

Two Articles Co-Authored by Detlef Sack on Local State-Society Relations

"Close Ties in European Local Governance. Linking Local State and Society" (Teles, F., Gendźwiłł, A., Stănuș, C., Heinelt, H. (eds.)) develops and tests a typology of local state-society relations. To deliver such a comparative study on institutionalized relations between local government and societal actors at the municipal level in Europe, the book identifies and classifies country-specific patterns of these institutionalized governance networks.

Neue Publikation „One Hundred Years of Social Protection“ von Lutz Leisering erschienen

Vor Kurzem ist der Band „One Hundred Years of Social Protection“ aus der Reihe „Global Dynamics of Social Policy“ erschienen. Die von Lutz Leisering herausgegebene Publikation ist das Ergebnis einer internationalen Forschungsgruppe am Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Forschung (ZiF) zum Thema "Understanding Southern Welfare". Die e-Book-Version der Publikation liegt als Open Access vor und kann daher ohne Kosten heruntergeladen werden.

Field of Exceptional Uncertainty: The Challenges of Early-Career Anthropologists in the Wake of the Corona Pandemic (Position Paper)

The position paper conveys the difficulties of practicing fieldwork and ethnography in times of lockdowns, travel bans, physical and social distancing to university administrations, funding agencies and also the wider public. It is the result of a collective effort by all organizers and participants of the DGSKA (German Anthropological Association) Online Autumn Academy that took place in October 2020. The attached document reads most complementary to the participants' blog contributions 'Fieldwork in Crisis'.

Neuerscheinung: FGW-Studie zur sozioökonomischen Bildung (KoWiMa)

Gemeinsam mit Reinhold Hedtke, Patrick Kahle und Henning Middelschulte hat Detlef Sack das Projekt „Kontroversität und Wissenschaftlichkeit in Materialien und Vorgaben für die sozioökonomische Bildung (KoWiMa)“ durchgeführt und abgeschlossen. Die Ergebnisse (FGW-Studie, Neues ökonomisches Denken 16) sind nun online.
