Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung diskutieren Thomas Welskopp (Universität Bielefeld) und Michael Cuntz (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar) das Thema der Praxistheorie. Die Diskussionsteilnehmer stellen ihre unterschiedlichen Sichtweisen dar, indem sie ihre Gegenposition jeweils kritisch reflektieren und somit ihre eigenen Sichtweisen kristallisieren. Daran anschließend wird die Diskussion für alle geöffnet, die an dem Gespräch teilnehmen möchten.

The event is a conversation between our invited guest, Kalle Pihlainen, and our department members, Britta Hochkirchen, Paula Diehl, and Lars Deile. The occasion is the recent publication of Pihlainen's book The Work of History: Constructivism and a Politics of the Past (London and New York: Routledge, 2017), about which more information can be found at the publisher's website:

A panel discussion will follow the short introduction of the book's central themes and theses by the author. Eventually, we hope to broaden the dialogue and invite all participants of the event to join the conversation on the challenging ideas put forward by both the author and the discussants.

Jouni-Matti Kuukkanen is an associate professor of philosophy in the University of Oulu, Finnland. He is a co-director of the Centre for Philosophical Studies of History and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Philosophy of History.

The colloquium talk is about Jouni-Matti's current research, following his latest book Postnarrativist Philosophy of Historiography (Palgrave, 2015).
