Chiara Pierobon's new book "The Power of Civil Society in the Middle East and North Africa. Peace-Building, Change, and Development" edited with Ibrahim Natil and Lilian Tauber is now available.

A book presentation will be held my co-editors at the BRISMES Conference / Panel 1A scheduled for June 24. at 2pm.

Chiara Pierobon ist Gastwissenschaftlerin an der OSCE Academy (Bischkek)

Chiara Pierobon ist vom 27. Mai bis 5. Juli 2019 Gastwissenschaftlerin (Associate Research Fellow) an der OSCE Academy in Bischkek. Während ihrer Zeit in Kirgisistan wird sie Feldforschung zum Thema "Preventing violent extremism through civil society: the role of the international donor community in Kyrgyzstan" durchführen.

Public Lecture Held By Chiara Pierobon at The Ala-Too International University And at The Kyrgyz-National University (Kyrgyzstan)

On 2. and 3. April, Chiara Pierobon hold a public lecture on "Strengthening Civil Society Capacity as Development Actor: the EU Experience in Kyrgyzstan" at the Ala-Too International University and at the Kyrgyz-National University in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). The lecture explored the role and contributions of civil society in the development process looking at the case-study on the EU engagement in Kyrgyzstan. Many thanks to the organisers Prof. Dr. Nazira Momosheva and Prof. Dr. Aliia Maralbaeva for making it possible as well as to the participants for the interesting questions and stimulating discussion!

Chiara Pierobon Visited The EU Delegation in Kyrgyzstan

On 7. March Chiara Pierobon visited the EU Delegation in Kyrgyzstan with a group of students of the OSCE Academy. The event saw the participation of EU Ambassador Eduard Auer and Project Manager Luca Carapelli who answered questions about EU activities in Central Asia in the field of regional cooperation, trade and security issues.

Chiara Pierobon ist vom 5. März bis 12. April 2019 Gastwissenschaftlerin (Associate Research Fellow) an der OSCE Academy in Bischkek. Während Ihres Aufenthaltes in Kirgisistan wird sie Feldforschung zum Thema "EU Prevention of Violent Extremism in Central Asia: A Case Study on Civil Society Engagement in Kyrgyzstan" durchführen.

Chiara Pierobon ist vom 3. bis 23. September 2018 Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität (DKU).

Während Ihres Aufenthaltes in Kasachstan wird sie Feldforschung zum Thema "EU and empowerment of civil society in Central Asia" in Almaty und in der Mangystau Region durchführen. Zudem wird der zweite Teil der durch die Volkswagen Stiftung geförderten Seminar-Reihe "Sustainable Development in Central Asia: regional and interregional cooperation" unter ihrer Leitung stattfinden.

Die Programme des zweiten und dritten Seminars der Reihe "Sustainable Development in Central Asia: regional and interregional cooperation” stehen nun zur Vefügung.

Die Seminare werden vom 6. bis 8. September an der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität (DKU) in Almaty im Rahmen des von der Volkswagen-Stiftung geförderten Projektes "Between Stability and Transformation: Regional and Transnational Cooperation in Central Asia and between Central Asia and Europe" stattfinden. Chiara Pierobon ist vom 9. bis 28. Juli 2018 Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität (DKU) in Almaty, Kasachstan.

Während Ihres Aufenthaltes an der DKU wird sie Feldforschung zum Thema "EU and empowerment of civil society in Central Asia" durchführen. Die Studie untersucht die EU Förderung von nachhaltiger Entwicklung in der Region durch das thematische Programm "Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Developmnet" (NSA / LA). Zudem wird das erste Seminar der durch die Volkswagen Stiftung geförderten Reihe "Sustainable Development in Central Asia: regional and interregional cooperation" unter ihrer Leitung stattfinden.

Call for Applications: "Sustainable Development"

Am 13.-14. Juli 2018 findet an der an der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität (DKU) in Almaty (Kasachstan) die Seminarreihe "Sustainable Development: regional and interregional cooperation in Central Asia" statt. Das Seminar wird im Rahmen des von der Volkswagen-Stiftung geförderten Projektes "Between Stability and Transformation: Regional and Transnational Cooperation in Central Asia and between Central Asia and Europe" in Kooperation mit dem Zentrum für Deutschland- und Europastudien (ZDES / CGES), dem Institut für Weltgesellschaft (IW), der Universität Dortmund und der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität veranstaltet.

Die Projektleitung haben Chiara Pierobon und Andreas Vasilache.
