AccessAbility - 2nd run successfully kicked off!

The Accessability Services' peer mentoring program "AccessAbility" has been launched on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with its first workshop for mentors and mentees. Altogether, 14 students with disabilities, chronic or mental illness participate. They will support each other in tandems, benefit from the workshops offered, and get to know the diverse and extensive support and counseling services offered by Bielefeld University. SHUFFLE-Excursion to the Czech Republic

This week, the SHUFFLE team visited the Teiresias Centre at Masaryk University in Brno and the Pyramida Centre at the University of Ostrava. In various workshops and discussions, the participants exchanged ideas about the implementation of Universal Design at universities and the needs of students with disabilities or chronic illnesses. The various interesting insights gained will be of great benefit to the SHUFFLE project and the ZAB.

Resilience - a workshop for participants of AccessAbility

Award ceremony for the ACCEESS student competition

The final presentation and award ceremony for the ACCESS student project took place on 28 September 2022. The jury selected three winning teams from ten participants and awarded prizes for their development tools.

Opening of working and learning spaces for students with disabilities, chronic or mental illnesses

As part of the Open Day - 5 years of ZAB, the student workrooms were ceremoniously opened. The invited guests from the Rectorate and the areas of study and teaching were welcomed not only by the entire ZAB team, but also by the reader for visually impaired people, who briefly introduced the rooms. Afterwards, there was a live demonstration of a visually impaired workstation by a student who is already using the workrooms for his studies.

Universal Design of Learning explained simply

The SHUFFLE project created an accessible explanatory video (in German) on the concept of Universal Design for Learning (UDL for short). The UDL concept was developed in the USA and shows what needs to be considered when designing teaching and learning materials for the diversity of all learners. To this end, it names three principles consisting of several sub-points that contain tips for implementation.[Weiterlesen]
