New Artist in Residence: Erica Shires

In addition to its scientific endeavours and focus, ZiF promotes artistic perspectives and interventions. The goal of this line of funding is to intensify the dialogue between Science and the Arts. The "Artist in Residence" programme is one of the building blocks to pursue that goal.

Sommerkonzert am ZiF mit dem NÉ-K Trio

Das NÉ-K Trio unter der Leitung von Nils Rabente bescherte den zahlreichen Zuhörer*innen im oberen Foyer des ZiF mit Piano, Kontrabass und Schlagzeug einen intensiven und vielseitigen Abend. Das Publikum bedankte sich nicht nur mit Applaus und hartnäckigen Forderungen nach Zugaben, sondern vor allem mit hochkonzentriertem Zuhören.

The Norbert Elias Fellowship Program

Global challenges need corresponding perspectives. In order to increase the diversity of perspectives in ZiF research projects and to make African researchers more visible, ZiF offers two fellowships annually for African scholars: the Norbert Elias Fellowships. Biases at the Science-Policy Interface

Biases are everywhere. Since it is not possible to get rid of them completely, it is all the more important to become aware of and reflect them. That was the goal of the workshop “Biases in the acquisition and consideration of evidence” which was held by ZiF's Research Group “The Epistemology of Evidence-Based Policy: How Philosophy can Facilitate the Science-Policy Interface” at ZiF on 11-12 May.

Philanthropic Organizations in Global Public Policies

To better understand the many facets of this shift, the workshop "Evidence-Based Benevolence? The Role of Philanthropic Organizations in Global Public Policies" (March 27-29 at ZiF) brought together different disciplinary perspectives. The workshop was convened by Evelyn Moser (Bonn), Marc Mölders (Bielefeld), Oliver Razum (Bielefeld) and Holger Straßheim (Bielefeld).
