New report on Science-for-Policy Ecosystems by the European Commission
The Joint Research
Center (JRC) of the European Commission has just issued a report (author: Butz
Pedersen) on the comparison and evaluation of ecosystems of science for policy.
The report discusses how institutions and procedures of policy advice and
expertise within European states are interlinked. It also presents a framework
for evaluating the knowledge circulation and learning capacities of such
national ecosystems of expertise. The report is part of an initiative of the
European Commission to closely engage with scientists, experts, knowledge
brokers and science advisers, policymakers, and other policy practitioners
across Europe. Prof. Dr. Holger Straßheim joined the expert group which
provided help in developing the ideas presented in the report. The
