Resilience - a workshop for participants of AccessAbility

Release of the ZAB employee portal and the new ZAB homepage

The new ZAB employee portal is online! Employees and job applicants at Bielefeld University can find comprehensive information about disabilities and working life here. From applying for a severely disabled person's ID, to useful knowledge about the legal aspects of disability and work at the university, to individual possibilities of work organization, a lot of information is available in a bundle. As usual, the portal is structured on a topic basis and linked to the other content of the ZAB portal.[Weiterlesen]

3rd Meeting of the Diversity Action Plan Monitoring Group

Under the leadership of the Prorectorate for Science and Society, the members of the Diversity Action Plan Monitoring Group met for their third meeting on November 18, 2022. Actors from the areas of diversity, ZAB and equality reported on the measures they had implemented to make Bielefeld University diversity-sensitive and barrier-free. Among other things, the ZAB employee portal and a handout for lecturers that sensitizes them to the needs of TIN* persons have been created. Kick-off meeting of the BMBF project Care Treasures

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, the kick-off meeting of the 'Federal Ministry of Education and Research - BMBF' with a total of seven projects on the topic of 'Technology-supported innovations, new ways in care' was held as a virtual meeting. The ZAB is a cooperating partner with the project "Pflegeschätze - Technologiegestützte Innovationen für Sorgegemeinschaften zur Verbesserung von Lebensqualität und Gesundheit informell Pflegender" (Care Treasures - Technology-supported Innovations for Care Communities to Improve the Quality of Life and Health of Informal Caregivers).[Weiterlesen]

Award ceremony for the ACCEESS student competition

The final presentation and award ceremony for the ACCESS student project took place on 28 September 2022. The jury selected three winning teams from ten participants and awarded prizes for their development tools.

Opening of working and learning spaces for students with disabilities, chronic or mental illnesses

As part of the Open Day - 5 years of ZAB, the student workrooms were ceremoniously opened. The invited guests from the Rectorate and the areas of study and teaching were welcomed not only by the entire ZAB team, but also by the reader for visually impaired people, who briefly introduced the rooms. Afterwards, there was a live demonstration of a visually impaired workstation by a student who is already using the workrooms for his studies.

Universal Design of Learning explained simply

The SHUFFLE project created an accessible explanatory video (in German) on the concept of Universal Design for Learning (UDL for short). The UDL concept was developed in the USA and shows what needs to be considered when designing teaching and learning materials for the diversity of all learners. To this end, it names three principles consisting of several sub-points that contain tips for implementation.[Weiterlesen]

UniMaps at the ICCHP-AAATE 2022

From July 11-15, 2022, ZAB participated in the Joint International Conference on Digital Inclusion, Assistive Technology & Accessibility in Lecco, Italy. Lecco brought together researchers and practitioners in the field of assistive technology and accessibility.
