We are pleased to announce that Duaa Kattana, doctoral researcher in Economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen, and Elisabeth Schmidt, doctoral researcher in Sociology at Bielefeld University, have been invited to participate in RTG connect, a networking and exchange event organized by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Both researchers are members of the Research Training Group RTG 2951 "Cross-Border Labour Markets" and have been invited on behalf of the President of the DFG, Professor Katja Becker, to represent the doctoral researchers of the Research Training Group at their universities.

The event will take place in Bonn on 13–14 October 2026 and brings together doctoral researcher representatives from DFG-funded Research Training Groups (RTGs) and International Research Training Groups (IRTGs) across Germany. Held in English, RTG connect provides a platform for discussing key issues affecting doctoral training and collaboration.

The programme will focus on topics including:

• Interdisciplinarity in RTGs and IRTGs: experiences, opportunities, and challenges
• Participation and involvement of doctoral researchers within RTGs
• Mobility conditions in RTGs, with a particular focus on international mobility
• "New Work" and cross-institutional collaboration in and among RTGs
• Supervision concepts, challenges, and mechanisms for conflict resolution
