Interview with Marcel Erlinghagen (Principal Investigator RTG 2951)
In an interview with ARD alpha, Marcel Erlinghagen, Professor for Sociology at University of Duisburg-Essen and PI of the Research Training Group “Cross Border Labour Markets” (RTG 2951), talks about Germany as an emigration country. German emigrants, he highlights, are mostly highly skilled and tend to be part of circular migration flows, that is they come back to Germany after a couple of years. However, he adds, most part of emigration from Germany consists of people with a non-German passport. He stresses that in the light of skilled labour shortage, it would be necessary to get migrants to stay permanently or at least significantly longer in Germany.
Interview with the broadcast station ARD alpha, in the programme „alpha-nachgehakt“, 23.6.2024 (from 9‘56“-15‘46).
