ZIF Workshop
Venue: Long Table Room
22 January 2020
9.30 to 15.30

Convener: Elif Sandal Önal

The aim of this conference is to provide an elaborated understanding of the dynamics of right-wing populism in Turkey, as produced by the governing political party and its leader; in order to see its social and political influences in a transnational context between Turkey and Germany. The speakers are expected to present their latest research on a variety of topics related to the political transformation of Turkey and its effect on Turkish migrant communities. This conference will be organized as part of the "Transnational Influences, Migrant identities and Social Cohesion" project (TransMIGZ), to contribute to discussions about the concept and case of diaspora, its effects of shaping and generating politics in the country of origin, identifying some of the main pillars of right-wing populism in Turkey, and discerning social and political dynamics affecting the Turkish migrant communities in Europe, especially in Germany.
