Bielefeld University again among the 50 best young universities in the world
29th place worldwide in the "Times Higher Education" ranking
For the seventh time in a row, Bielefeld University has been named one of the world's best young universities by the British academic magazine Times Higher Education (THE). In the "Young University Rankings 2018" Bielefeld University ranks 29th worldwide. Among the German universities evaluated, it ranks fourth, and second in North Rhine-Westphalia. The ranking compares universities worldwide that are not older than 50 years.
To better illustrate the current and future potential of these young universities – the “rising stars” – the THE magazine has been conducting the “Young University Rankings” for them since 2012. Comparisons of data on research, teaching and transfer as well as aspects of internationalisation and reputation are made.
In 2018, 250 universities from all over the world were included in the "Young University Rankings" for the first time. In 2016, 150 universities were compared, in 2017 the figure was 200. The world leader in this year's ranking is Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
