On 24. September, I held a research capacity-building training in cooperation with the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (UNESCO Almaty) and the International Research Centre-Kazakhstan. The training was aimed at strengthening the capacity of local researchers and civil society organization representatives to conduct theoretically informed, empirically grounded and policy-relevant research on violent extremism (VE) and its prevention (PVE). The training also included Q&A sessions and interactive group discussions. Be taking into account different methodological and practical approaches in the field of PVE and examining case studies based on semi-structured interviews, the workshop enabled the participants to develop their skills in drafting proposals for VE-/PVE-related individual/collective research projects.
