It is my pleasure to announce that my new book “Central Asia After Three Decades of Independence Politics and Societies Between Stability and Transformation” coedited with Dr. Steve Schlegel and Nora Becker from TU Dortmund University was recently published by Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft. This volume results from the research-based professionalization project “Between Stability and Transformation: Regional and Trans-national Cooperation in Central Asia and between Central Asia and Europe” that was funded by VolkswagenStiftung (2016 to 2019).

Being published in the 30th anniversary year of the USSR’s dissolution, the book addresses the question: “Quo vadis, Central Asia?”. It contains selected chapters from scholars who have analyzed the patterns of stability and transformation characterizing the politics and society of three specific countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan—as well as of the Central Asian region as a whole.
