Zarema Yaliboylu is a Crimean Tatar photo artist who has worked as a photographer for various newspapers, media agencies and various social projects. In recent years, Zarema's work has been shown in various cities around the world, highlighting how Crimean Tatars have been able to survive as a people thanks to their faith, resilience and love for their homeland, as well as being able to harness their power for creativity even in extremely adverse circumstances. Inspired by the extensive history of her people, Zarema created portraits of indigenous Crimean Tatars (qırımlılar) who survived deportation in 1944 and returned to their homeland, including her own family. The exhibition is dedicated to their people, who for several centuries have resisted attempts to rewrite the history of Crimea by destroying historical sites and suppressing its rich cultural heritage.
