Keynote lecturer IKG Conference 2025
We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Dr. Susan Elliott, a distinguished geographer and University Research Chair in Health Geography at the University of Waterloo, Canada, will be our keynote lecturer at the upcoming IKG Conference 2025. Her lecture, titled “Women, Water, and Wellbeing in the Face of Climate Change: What’s Violence Got to Do with It?”, promises to be a thought-provoking and impactful session that bridges critical issues of gender, environment, and public health.
Dr. Elliott is a globally recognized scholar with over 250 publications focused on the intersections of global environmental change, public health, and vulnerable populations. Her work emphasizes water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), gender, aging, and violence, with a strong commitment to science-policy integration. She has held prestigious roles, including Director of the Institute of Environment and Health at McMaster University, Senior Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment, and Health, and Dean of Social Sciences at McMaster University and Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo.
As the founder and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Wellbeing, Space & Society and Editor-in-Chief of Social Science and Medicine, Dr. Elliott has been instrumental in advancing interdisciplinary research on health and environment. Her recent induction as a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences further underscores her global impact and dedication to addressing pressing challenges in public health and environmental sustainability.
