Thinking With Sound no. 3: Silence, Birds, and Car Noise. Soundscaping the “Zagłębie Martyrs Memorial”, Israel
As a student of the joint blended seminar "Commemorating Mass Violence", Yarden Gruman from Tel Aviv University visited the memorial site for the Jews of Zagłębie (Poland) at Ben-Shemen forest in the summer 2025 to capture the soundscape of this specific place. In his essay, he investigates the symbolic junction of narratives through the collision of three layers of the soundscape: silence, natural sounds, and vehicular ambience.
