School Without Ableism?! – Panel Discussion on November 27, 2024, on Discrimination-Sensitive and Inclusive Design of Schools and Society
In our society, students with disabilities continue to face discrimination and prejudice. Ableism, as a deeply ingrained form of discrimination against people with disabilities, affects not only educational opportunities but also social integration and the self-esteem of those affected. It is therefore all the more important that we, as a society, talk about these issues and find solutions.
As part of the ZAB Forum Barrierefrei, Andrea Schöne, Mareice Kaiser, and Prof. Dr. Martin Heinrich will discuss how to design schools and society in a more discrimination-sensitive and inclusive way. We will explore the many facets of ableism in education and aim to answer key questions, such as:
- What challenges do students with disabilities face in school?
- How can we create an inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students?
- What steps are necessary to reduce prejudice and raise awareness of diversity?
- What experiences have parents had, and what support do families need to ensure the best possible education for their children?
Inclusive education is a societal responsibility that requires the commitment of teachers, policymakers, and families. Sharing personal experiences is invaluable in developing solutions together.
We invite all interested parties to join this important dialogue and share their voices and experiences!
The panel discussion will take place on November 27, 2024, at 6:00 PM in room X-E0-002 and via livestream. We look forward to a lively exchange, especially with many participants on-site. For more information about the event and accessibility, please visit the ZAB portal.
