Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on 21 May
Today marks the 15th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) - the worldwide day of action for accessibility.
GAAD draws attention to the importance of the accessibility to digital services. The aim of the day of action is to raise awareness of accessibility, increase awareness of digital inclusion and promote dialogue about the needs of more than one billion people with disabilities and chronic illnesses worldwide.
Digital accessibility refers to the ability of people with disabilities or chronic illnesses to use and interact with digital applications and content independently. Accessibility to websites, applications and digital services is a key prerequisite for equal participation in an increasingly digital society.
The Accessibility Services (ZAB) is therefore home to various digital accessibility services:
The Competence Centre for Accessible Digital University Administration.NRW, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW), aims to ensure long-term accessibility in the administration of universities in NRW.
