In this book, the author sketches a multi-dimensional approach to phenomena of secularization that is based on Bourdieuian social theory. The main thesis is that secularization is closely connected to the societal struggle about the meaning of true religion. Instead of conceiving secularization merely in terms of a decrease of religion's importance in society, the author conceives secularization in the three dimensions differentiation, privatization and marginalization. The approach's operationalizability for empirical research is established by recourse to the method of HabitusAnalysis.
