Matthias Jäger, Policy Advisor, GIZ Bonn

Matthias Jäger is a value chain and marketing expert with more than 25 years of experience working on research and development topics related to value chains for nutrition, sustainable food systems, low-emission value chains, inclusive business models, SME development and trade promotion. He is widely experienced in promotion, research and capacity building of agrobiodiversity value chains and inclusive business models linking farmer organizations with private sector companies, cooperating with development countries’ public and private sector actors, self-help organizations and non-governmental organisation in Latin America, Africa and Asia. 24 years of experience with design, implementation and evaluation of rural development cooperation projects and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in Latin America and Africa for donors such as EU, IFAD, USAID, BID, GIZ, BMZ, BMUB. He holds a Magister in Latin American Studies and Legal Studies from Bielefeld University and a Master's Degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, as well as an Executive Master's Degree in Innovative Governance of Large Urban Systems from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
