InterAmerican Studies Colloquium (Menara Guizardi, 20.5.2025)
We are happy to announce Menara Guizardi (National University of San Martín, Argentina) as distinguished speaker to our next IAS colloquium on Tuesday, 20 May from 18 to 20hs (CET) at Bielefeld University. The title of her talk is "The Elementary Structuring of Patriarchy: Bolivian Women and Transborder Mobilities in the Andes", drawing on her monograph published with The Manchester University Press in 2024. The colloquium will take place at Bielefeld University, Main Building, Room V2-213.
Menara Guizardi holds a B.A. in Social Sciences (2004) from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Brazil). She also holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies (2007) and a PhD in Social Anthropology (2011), both from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). She is currently an adjunct researcher for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research of Argentina (CONICET) at the Interdisciplinary School of Higher Social Studies of the National University of San Martín (Argentina) and an external researcher at the University of Tarapacá (Chile).
Her main research topics are feminism, gender, social inequalities, migration, and borders. She was also awarded the George Forster Funding for Experienced Researchers (2024-2026) from the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung (Germany). She has extensive experience as an editor and author of scientific books for international publishing houses. Her most recent edited book is “How to Suppress the Careers of Female Social Scientists – Volume 1. A Feminist Ethnographic Anti-Manual from Chile” (Springer, 2025).
