InterAmerican Studies Colloquium (Debora Gerstenberger, 27.5.2025)
The next IAS Colloquium will be held in cooperation with the Colloquium of Global and Entangled History.
We are happy to welcome Debora Gerstenberger (Köln University) as distinguished speaker on Tuesday, 27 May from 18 to 20hs (CET) at Bielefeld University. She will present her work on "Future Machines. The Introduction of Digital Computers into Brazil's Intelligence Agency Serviço Nacional de Informações (1970s)". The colloquium will take place at Bielefeld University, X-Building in room A2-103.
Since 2022, Debora Gerstenberger is professor for Latin American History at the University of Cologne (Iberian and Latin American Department). Her main areas of research and interest are Global History, Latin American History, secret services, police forces and state formation, with a regional focus on Brazil and the Portuguese Empire of the early modern period and the Cono Sur. From 2013 to 2022 she was junior professor for Latin American History at the Free University of Berlin, with a special focus on gender and globalisation research.
