COLLOQUIUM INFORMATION for Thursday, July, 11th 2024 from 18 to 20hrs (CET - room: C2-144): "Literatura e cultura na Amazônia brasileira: vozes da resistência". Carlos Augusto Costa (Universidade Federal do Sul do Pará)
Carlos Augusto Costa is Professor of Literary Studies at the Federal University of South and Southeast Pará - UNIFESSPA, São Félix do Xingu Campus (Brazil). He holds a Master's degree in Brazilian Literature from the University of São Paulo - USP (2008-2011). He received his PhD in Literary Studies (Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG (2015-2019), with a CAPES/PRODOUTORAL Scholarship. He did a ‘sandwich internship’ at CIAS at the University of Bielefeld in 2018. Carlos Augusto Costa is a member of the research group "NARRARES - Studies of Narratives of Resistance", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Tânia Sarmento-Pantoja, and of the research group "LAERTE - Laboratory of Studies of Resistance and Testimony", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Abílio Pacheco de Souza. He conducts and publishes studies on Brazilian literary production from a historical perspective, with an emphasis on themes related to state violence and its resonances in language. He is particularly interested in the following themes: ethics of representation, authoritarianism, trauma, melancholy, torture, exile, testimony, humor, memory, and narration.
