Podcast "Chances and Challenges - The BGHS Podcast"
Doing a Doctorate can be a journey of ups and downs where especially the lows can make you feel like you are alone with your issues. “Chances and Challenges”, the new BGHS podcast about life during a doctorate, can show you that you are not alone and that there are resources out there to help. But it also shows the good parts: What opportunities do await you and what chances do you have after completing your PhD? Whether you're just starting out, in the midst of your research, or nearing completion, this podcast offers invaluable insights into the world of doctoral studies. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect from it:
For anyone who's ventured into the world of academia, you know that a PhD is much more complex than “just” research and writing. From finding a supervisor to start your PhD, to feeling stuck while writing or not knowing of the opportunities the university can offer you; these are just some of the topics the podcast will dive into.
It is hosted by Nicole Käufler, research assistant at the BGHS. Of course, Clara Buitrago, Coordinator for Internationalisation, and Sabine Schäfer, Executive Manager of the BGHS, will also be there. In addition, you will be hearing from other experts in their fields, fellow doctoral researchers and alumni of the BGHS, so there will be lots of information that can be found in each episode!
If you're embarking on a PhD or are already entrenched in the process, "Chances and Challenges" is a must-listen. It’s not just about academic success but about creating a fulfilling experience that helps you grow as a researcher and a person.
A PhD is a marathon, not a sprint, and "Chances and Challenges" offers some form of orientation to navigate this unique academic adventure. The first episode is now available on Spotify and a new episode will come out every two weeks. If you have any suggestions for topics, please write us an Email to bghs@uni-bielefeld.de. So, tune in and remember: You are not alone on this path.
