"The Path to Doctorate"

For many years now, the BGHS has been supporting young international scholars who are faced with the question of whether or not they want to do a doctorate. Currently, the BGHS is running the programme "The Path to Doctorate" where excellent Master students from international master’s studies tracks at Bielefeld University get the opportunity to discuss the topic for a potential dissertation with their peers and scholars of Bielefeld University, begin to prepare a research proposal, and learn about doctoral funding programmes in Germany.

Five international students from the following master’s studies tracks are taking part.

From the MA Sociology International Track::

• Kübra Gencal: The Political Economy of the Informal Waste Collection Sector in Turkey
• Yasemin Yildiz: New migration from Turkey to Germany
• Adolfo Zambrano: Strategies of the multi-ethnic and multi-religious organization in the Ottoman Balkans

From the InterAmerican Studies (IAS):

• Omar Sierra: Return migration and reintegration in Venezuela

From History, Economics and Philosophy of Science / Interdisciplinary Studies of Science Master (IAS)::

• Asli Atasoy: Public trust in science
