Let’s Talk About It – Research, Language, Community: A Review of the Summer Semester 2026

The study group "Reden wir darüber – Forschung, Sprache, Gemeinschaft" has successfully concluded its third semester. Together with four international doctoral researchers, we created an open, informal space to practice German, present and discuss interesting topics, and learn from one another.

Diverse Topics and Lively Exchange

Throughout the semester, all four participants gave presentations in German. What was special this round was that the focus was not limited to the participants’ own research projects. Instead, the doctoral researchers presented a wide range of topics, from scientific questions to personal interests.

This diversity provided an excellent opportunity to expand our vocabulary across very different fields and, above all, to become more comfortable speaking German freely in an academic context. The focus of our group is not on speaking perfectly, but remains on the joy of explaining and the exchange of new ideas.

Your level of German does not matter – we are not native speakers ourselves. The most important thing is that you are interested in speaking German and connecting with others.
