In summer term the BGHS welcomed Chien-Juh Gu (Western Michigan University) and Peter J. Heather (King's College London) as guest lecturers.

Peter J. Heather, is a historian, his research interests focus on the later Roman Empire and its successor states. He gave a seminar about The Christianisation of Europe from 24 – 25 May.
Chien-Juh Gu is a sociologist with a teaching and research focus on the sociology of gender. Her block seminar was from 19 – 20 June, and dealt with Immigration and Gender: Theory, Methods, and Analysis.

Guest lecturer in winter term

In winter term 2018/19 Professor Vivian A. Schmidt from Boston University will be the guest lecturer at the BGHS. Vivien A. Schmidt is Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration, Professor of International Relations in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Professor of Political Science at Boston University. Her scholarly research is situated at the intersection of political theory, comparative politics, and international relations. The field she is interested in is the changing nature of European politics and economics in a globalizing world.

Vivien A. Schmidt will give a seminar at the BGHS from 27 - 28 November. The exact topic will be announced in the newsletter and the ekVV when it is settled.
