The programme is organized by the Departments of History at Lund and Bielefeld University.

The Programme

The Desk Exchange-Programme offers an opportunity for doctoral researchers from Lund and Bielefeld University to gain an insight into the academic system abroad, to come in contact with colleagues and researchers and to create international networks. During their stays the participants have the opportunity to take part in the study programmes of the graduate schools in Lund and Bielefeld, present their dissertation projects and meet with professors from the history departments.
At the BGHS the three doctoral researchers from Lund University will present their works in the Research Class by Prof. Dr. Thomas Welskopp (deputy director of the BGHS) on 10 November. Bolette Frydendahl Larsen will talk about her research project When the ‚Girl Problem‘ became a ‚Psychopath Problem‘. Martin Andersson will present his project Migration in the Swedish Realm during the Early Seventeenth Century and Josefin Hägglund will hold a lecture on Carl Lindhagen: A ‚Popular Tribune‘ in the Swedish Democratic Breaktrough. In addition to the academic programme the doctoral respresentatives at the BGHS will organize some events for their colleagues beyond academic life such as a pub night on 9 November. For more information see the BGHS Calendar.

Cooperation Bielefeld–Lund

The 2016 Doctoral Researcher Desk Exchange is not the first cooperation between the Lund and Bielefeld University. In June 2016 the 2016 PhD Conference in History: Lund/York/Bielefeld took place at the BGHS. It was organized by Lund University, the University of York and Bielefeld University. For four days doctoral researchers from the three universities presented and discussed their works in an international context. The conference was the third part of the cooperation, which was hosted at Lund University in 2014 and 2015 at the University of York. For further information, please see: BGHS.NEWS.
