Master Programme Studies in European Societies
Summer Vacations
Although summer vocations are in full swing, we keep in touch with our students. For example, the future second-year student of MA SES Viktoria Mokretsova who received her BA in journalism is currently taking part in the program of Russian-German Forum 'Journalistenpraktikum 2015'. The participants of this program – 15 young Russian journalists – undertake a 6-week internship in leading German media such as ZDF, Deutsche Welle, Radio Berlin Brandenburg. Before the internship, the students had additional training in the framework of a weeklong seminar in Berlin. We asked Vika to share her impressions about the seminar:
‘It was a great training opportunity before we start working in German editorial boards. Within two days, we were expected to write a German-language text about migration. Our curator was Dr. Ulrike Butmaloiu, a journalist working for the portal devoted to Eastern Europe ‘N-ost’.
In Berlin, we also attended the Bundespressekonferenz. It is a special format of press conferences which exists only in Germany. Three times a week German journalists meet the press secretaries of different ministries to ask them any questions they would like to. I was truly impressed by the fact that media rather than governmental bodies are the organizers of such event, and the representatives of the ministries voluntary come to the meetings and allow the journalists to attack them with most awkward and tricky questions. Such freedom and independency of German outlets are to be envied!’
We remind you that there is the last chance for the international students to join MA SES: the reception of portfolios from the enrollees (Look Here) will be closed on the 10th of August.
