Du bist gerade von deinem Auslandssemester oder Praktikum im Ausland zurückgekehrt und möchtest deine Erfahrungen weitergeben? Dann könnte das Programm „Back to School“ genau das Richtige für dich sein.

Was ist „Back to School”?

„Back to School“ ist eine Programmlinie von Europa macht Schule, die vom DAAD organisiert wird. Ziel ist es, Studierenden die Möglichkeit zu geben, ihre Auslandserfahrungen direkt an Schulen in Deutschland weiterzugeben.

Als Teilnehmer*in besuchst du eine Schulklasse (zum Beispiel an deiner ehemaligen Schule) und gestaltest dort ein kleines Projekt über dein Gastland und deine Zeit im Ausland. Dabei geht es nicht nur um einen klassischen Vortrag. Besonders wichtig ist ein interaktives Format, bei dem Schüler*innen aktiv mitmachen und einen authentischen Einblick in das Leben und Studieren im Ausland bekommen können.

Wie läuft ein „Back-to-School“-Projekt ab?

Das Projekt ist überschaubar und flexibel gestaltbar:

1. Anmeldung beim Programm

2. Kontaktaufnahme mit einer Schule (z. B. deiner ehemaligen Schule)

3. Planung einer Projektidee gemeinsam mit einer Lehrkraft

4. Durchführung des Projekts im Unterricht

5. Schreiben eines kurzen Projektberichts

Das Projekt selbst umfasst mindestens zwei Unterrichtsstunden (90 Minuten).

Welche Themen sind möglich?

Bei der Themenwahl bist du relativ frei. Wichtig ist nur, dass dein Projekt kreativ ist, zum Alter der Schulklasse passt und die Schüler*innen aktiv einbindet.

Mögliche Ideen könnten sein:

• Alltag und Studium in deinem Gastland
• kulturelle Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten
• typische Speisen, Traditionen oder Feste
• Tipps für Auslandsaufenthalte
• persönliche Erfahrungen aus deinem Erasmus-Semester oder Praktikum

Was bringt dir die Teilnahme?

Neben der Möglichkeit, deine Auslandserfahrungen weiterzugeben, bietet „Back to School“ auch einige Vorteile:

• Du trainierst deine Präsentations- und Kommunikationsfähigkeiten.
• Du inspirierst Schüler*innen, selbst einen Auslandsaufenthalt zu planen.
• Du leistest einen Beitrag zu internationalem Austausch und europäischer Verständigung.
• Du erhältst ein Zertifikat des DAAD, das sich gut im Lebenslauf macht.
• Zusätzlich gibt es eine Aufwandsentschädigung von 45 € sowie ggf. eine Erstattung der Fahrtkosten.

Have you just returned from your semester abroad or internship abroad and would like to share your experiences? Then the "Back to School" programme could be just right for you.

What is "Back to School"?

"Back to School" is a programme run by "Europa macht Schule" and organised by the DAAD. The aim is to give students the opportunity to share their experiences abroad directly with schools in Germany.

As a participant, you will visit a school class (for example, at your former school) and organise a small project about your host country and your time abroad. This is not just a traditional presentation. It is particularly important to use an interactive format in which pupils can actively participate and gain an authentic insight into life and studying abroad.

How does a "Back to School" project work?

The project is straightforward and flexible:

1. Register for the programme

2. Contact a school (e.g. your former school)

3. Plan a project idea together with a teacher

4. Carry out the project in class

5. Write a short project report

The project itself comprises at least two lessons (90 minutes).

What topics are possible?

You are relatively free to choose your topic. The only important thing is that your project is creative, appropriate for the age of the school class and actively involves the pupils.

Possible ideas could be:

• Everyday life and studying in your host country
• Cultural differences and similarities
• Typical foods, traditions or festivals
• Tips for stays abroad
• Personal experiences from your Erasmus semester or internship

What are the benefits of participating?

In addition to the opportunity to share your experiences abroad, "Back to School" also offers a number of advantages:

• You will train your presentation and communication skills.
• You will inspire pupils to plan their own stay abroad.
• You contribute to international exchange and European understanding.
• You receive a certificate from the DAAD, which looks good on your CV.
• In addition, you receive an expense allowance of €45 and, if applicable, reimbursement of travel expenses.
