Sie planen im Rahmen Ihrer Promotion einen Forschungsaufenthalt in den USA? Dann bietet das Fulbright-Doktorand*innenprogramm eine attraktive Möglichkeit, Ihr Forschungsvorhaben an einer Universität oder wissenschaftlichen Einrichtung in den USA zu verwirklichen.

Das Programm richtet sich an leistungsstarke und engagierte Promovierende aller Fachrichtungen. Gefördert werden vier- bis sechsmonatige Forschungsaufenthalte, die zwischen dem 1. August und dem 31. Dezember 2027 beginnen.

Das Stipendium auf einen Blick

Das Fulbright-Stipendium umfasst unter anderem:

• monatliche Förderung in Höhe von 2.400 Euro zur Finanzierung der Lebenshaltungskosten,
• gegebenenfalls Zuschüsse für mitreisende Angehörige,
• eine Kranken- und Unfallversicherung,
• die kostenfreie Fulbright J-1-Visasponsorship,
• die Teilnahme am Fulbright-Seminar vom 22. bis 25. April 2027 sowie
• die Aufnahme in das internationale Fulbright-Netzwerk.

Informationsveranstaltung

Interessierte sind herzlich zur digitalen Informationsveranstaltung am 5. August 2026 von 12:00 bis 13:30 Uhr eingeladen. Dort stellt Fulbright Germany das Programm vor und beantwortet Fragen rund um die Bewerbung. Eine vorherige Registrierung ist erforderlich. Are you planning a research stay in the USA as part of your PhD? If so, the Fulbright Doctoral Programme offers an attractive opportunity to carry out your research project at a university or research institution in the USA.

The programme is aimed at high-achieving and committed PhD students from all disciplines. Funding is available for research stays of four to six months, commencing between 1 August and 31 December 2027.

Overview of scholarship

The Fulbright scholarship includes, amongst other things:

• a monthly allowance of 2,400 euros to cover living costs,
• where applicable, allowances for accompanying family members,
• health and accident insurance,
• free Fulbright J-1 visa sponsorship,
• participation in the Fulbright seminar from 22 to 25 April 2027,
• and membership of the international Fulbright network.
